Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (also known as Sousou no Frieren) is a fantasy adventure anime that flips the typical hero's journey on its head.

After the hero's party—including the immortal elf mage Frieren, the hero Himmel, priest Heiter, and warrior Eisen—defeats the Demon King and brings peace to the world, the story picks up decades later. Due to her long lifespan, Frieren barely ages while her human companions grow old. At Himmel's funeral, she realizes she never truly got to know him or the others deeply, leading to profound regret.

Motivated to better understand human emotions and connections, Frieren embarks on a new, introspective journey with new companions (like her apprentice Fern). She collects spells, revisits old places, and reflects on memories, all while heading toward a mythical resting place of souls to say a proper goodbye to her old friends.
