Aura

Aura, also known as Aura the Guillotine, is one of the Seven Sages of Destruction — elite demons who served directly under the Demon King in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

She is a powerful, long-lived demon who wields a signature spell called Auserlese (the Spell of Obedience). Using her magical artifact, the Scales of Obedience, she compares the mana (magical power) of her soul against her opponent's. The one with greater mana gains total control over the loser's body, turning them into a puppet. To prevent any resistance or partial defiance from strong-willed victims, she earned her grim nickname by routinely decapitating those she controlled — hence "the Guillotine."

Aura is articulate, highly arrogant, and completely lacking in empathy (typical of demons in the series). She is cautious and pragmatic despite her confidence, willing to retreat from truly superior threats. She serves as a major antagonist in her self-titled arc, where she attempts to conquer a human territory through deception and her mind-control abilities.
