Fern

Fern is a young human mage and one of the main characters in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. She serves as Frieren's apprentice and traveling companion (alongside others like Stark), often acting as the responsible, mature "caretaker" of the group due to Frieren's more laid-back nature.

Fern is a war orphan from the Southern Lands, originally adopted and trained in magic by the priest Heiter (a former member of the Hero Party) after he rescued her. Following Heiter's death, she joins Frieren on her journey to better understand humans and continue growing as a mage.

She is portrayed as calm, disciplined, stoic, and emotionally reserved — rarely showing strong feelings outwardly — though she can become quietly sulky or childish when upset or when her expectations aren't met. Despite her composed demeanor, she's a highly talented and powerful mage with exceptional skill, especially in offensive and defensive magic.

Physically, she's depicted as a tall (especially as she grows older), teenage girl with long purple hair, purple eyes, and a distinctive hime-style haircut, usually wearing a long black robe.
