Natsuki Naoko

Natsuki Naoko (菜月 菜穂子) is a minor but important character in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. She is the mother of the protagonist Natsuki Subaru and the wife of Natsuki Kenichi.

She is depicted as a middle-aged woman of average height with shoulder-length brown hair (often tied in a side ponytail with an orange ribbon) and brown eyes. Her sharp, intense gaze often gives the impression that she's glaring or in a bad mood (sometimes described as an "evil gaze"), but this is misleading.

In personality, Naoko is actually quite laid-back, airheaded, and not particularly observant or perceptive—her attempts at compassion or understanding often miss the mark entirely. Despite this, she deeply cares for and prioritizes her son Subaru above all else. Like her husband, she's also a big fan of mayonnaise.

She appears mainly in flashbacks and Subaru's memories (especially during certain trials in Arc 4/Season 2), where she plays a key role in understanding Subaru's backstory, his struggles with self-worth, and his relationship with his parents before he was summoned to the other world.
