Roswaal L. Mathers

Roswaal L. Mathers is a major character in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. He serves as the lord of Roswaal Manor, the head of House Mathers, the Kingdom of Lugunica's Head Court Mage, and a powerful noble (margrave) who sponsors Emilia's candidacy in the Royal Selection.

He is widely regarded as one of the strongest — if not the strongest — magic users in the series, with aptitude for all six magic elements and an immense mana pool.

Physically, he's a tall (about 186 cm / 6'1"), slender, pale-skinned man with long indigo hair, heterochromia (yellow left eye, blue right eye), and a flamboyant, clown-like appearance featuring elaborate makeup (purple lipstick, eye shadow, etc.), eccentric clothing, and an unusual, theatrical way of speaking that draws out vowels dramatically (e.g., "~a~").

On the surface, he acts eccentric, light-hearted, and quirky, treating those around him (including his demi-human maids Ram and Rem) with apparent friendliness and care. Beneath that facade lies a highly calculating, manipulative, and ruthless schemer with centuries of experience — his current body is possessed by the soul of his ancestor Roswaal A. Mathers (from ~400 years ago), who has been body-hopping through descendants to pursue a long-term obsession tied to the Witch of Greed, Echidna.

He's a key political player who orchestrates events from behind the scenes, often willing to sacrifice others (or even himself) to align reality with his goals.
