Otto Suwen

Otto Suwen is a supporting character in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World.

He is a young merchant with light grayish hair and green eyes, usually seen wearing formal merchant attire. Otto is kind-hearted, somewhat timid, and frequently anxious or panicky, but he is also highly intelligent, resourceful, and surprisingly capable when the situation demands it.

His most notable ability is his Divine Protection (Blessing) of Kotodama/Soul of Language, which allows him to communicate with animals, insects, and even some non-human creatures (including the ability to talk to his ground dragon Patrasche).

He first meets Subaru in arc 4 and eventually becomes one of Subaru's most reliable allies and close friends, often acting as the group's logistician, accountant, and voice of reason (despite his frequent complaints and nervous breakdowns).
