Garek Thompson

Garek Thompson (ギャレク・トンプソン) is a supporting character in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, primarily appearing in Arc 5 (adapted in Season 3 of the anime).

He is a citizen (and Metropolitan Director) of the Watergate City Priestella, described as a handsome, slightly chubby man with a mustache who dresses in stylish/chic clothing. Originally a merchant, he encountered Reala Thompson (formerly Reshia Tinzel, the amnesiac mother of Garfiel and Frederica) after she survived a rockslide accident with memory loss. He took her in, brought her to Priestella, and later married her, starting a new family with two children (Rafiel and Fred Thompson). This makes him Garfiel Tinzel's stepfather.

During the events in Priestella involving the Sin Archbishops (particularly Capella Emerada Lugunica), Garek becomes a victim of her Authority and is transformed into a black dragon form, which plays a role in some of the conflicts there (including a battle with Crusch Karsten). He is ultimately frozen/preserved in that state along with other victims.

He's a relatively minor character overall, mainly serving to expand on Garfiel's family backstory and add emotional stakes during the Priestella arc.
