Al

Al (full name: Aldebaran) is one of the recurring supporting characters in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World.

He's a boisterous, laid-back, and rather eccentric young man who wears full-body knight armor (almost never removing the helmet in public), which gives him a very distinctive silhouette. Al is Subaru's fellow countryman from Japan — another person summoned to the other world years before Subaru arrived — and he openly refers to himself as a "loser" or "small-fry" despite his combat ability.

Personality-wise, he's crude, loves dirty jokes, frequently teases people (especially Subaru), and speaks in a very casual, slang-heavy manner that stands out compared to the more formal fantasy-world characters. Underneath the clownish behavior, though, he is quite shrewd, experienced, and carries deep knowledge about the world and its rules.

Al serves as Priscilla Barielle's knight and is almost always seen by her side. His exact abilities and backstory remain partially mysterious for a long time, but he is known to be extremely capable in combat despite his unserious attitude.
