Lye Batenkaitos

Lye Batenkaitos is a Sin Archbishop of the Witch Cult in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, representing the Gourmet aspect of Gluttony.

He is a short, scrawny young boy (appearing around 12–15 years old) with long, unkempt dark brown hair (often reaching his knees or thighs), emerald-green eyes, sharp fang-like teeth, and a body covered in scars and grime, giving him a wild and filthy appearance. He typically wears ragged, dirty cloth-like garments.

As the "Gourmet," Lye has an obsessive, sadistic personality focused on consuming the memories and names of people he deems "delicious" or interesting—particularly those with rich, exciting experiences—treating it like a refined meal rather than mindless devouring. This stems from his Authority of Gluttony, which lets him eat a person's name (erasing their existence from others' memories) and/or memories (leaving them in a coma-like state), while gaining their skills, abilities, and knowledge. He can use techniques like Lunar Eclipse (accessing stolen abilities in his own form) and Solar Eclipse (transforming into consumed individuals, though he dislikes it due to identity loss). He is also an extremely skilled fighter, having absorbed countless martial and magical talents.

Lye first appears prominently after the White Whale battle (in season 2 of the anime), where he inflicts lasting harm on key characters like Rem and Crusch, making him one of Subaru's most hated enemies. He serves as a major antagonist in arcs 5 and 6.
