Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead (also known as Zom 100: Zombie ni Naru made ni Shitai 100 no Koto) is a comedy-horror anime about overworked 24-year-old office worker Akira Tendo, who's burned out from his soul-crushing, exploitative job with endless overtime, bullying bosses, and zero work-life balance.

When a zombie apocalypse suddenly hits Tokyo, most people panic—but Akira? He's thrilled. Finally free from the daily grind, he sees the end of the world as his chance to actually live. Instead of hiding in fear, he makes a bucket list of 100 things he wants to do before he inevitably turns into a zombie (or dies trying).

The story follows Akira (and eventually his growing group of quirky survivors) as he enthusiastically checks off wild, fun, and often absurd items—like eating at fancy restaurants for free, going on roller coasters, traveling, partying, and more—while dodging zombies and finding joy in a ruined world.

It's a refreshing, upbeat take on the zombie genre that mixes gory action, dark humor, satire on Japanese work culture, and a surprisingly positive message about seizing the day. The anime adaptation (12 episodes, 2023) covers the early arcs with vibrant animation and high energy.
