Dandadan

Dandadan (also stylized as Dan Da Dan) is a wild, high-energy supernatural action-comedy anime based on Yukinobu Tatsu's manga.

The story follows two high schoolers with clashing beliefs about the paranormal:

• Momo Ayase, a bold and popular girl who believes in ghosts and spirits (thanks to her grandma's influence), but dismisses aliens and UFOs as nonsense.
• Ken Takakura (nicknamed Okarun), a shy, awkward occult nerd obsessed with aliens and extraterrestrials, who thinks ghosts are fake.

To prove each other wrong, they make a bet and visit supposedly haunted spots tied to their respective beliefs. Things go completely off the rails when they both discover that both ghosts and aliens are very real—and extremely dangerous.

This kicks off a chaotic adventure where they gain supernatural powers, battle bizarre yōkai (spirits/monsters) and creepy aliens, team up with quirky allies, and navigate friendship, budding romance, and absurdly over-the-top fights.

It's a perfect blend of horror-comedy, action, romance, and sheer insanity, with stunning animation from Science Saru (the studio behind stuff like Devilman Crybaby). The first season aired in Fall 2024 and was widely praised as one of the best anime of the year for its humor, visuals, and heart.
