About Gloxinia

Gloxinia is a major character in the anime The Seven Deadly Sins (Nanatsu no Taizai), specifically appearing as one of the Ten Commandments — the elite warriors of the Demon Clan.

In the anime adaptation, he has a strikingly androgynous and youthful appearance that often leads people to initially mistake him for a young woman or girl. He features long, bright red hair, pointed fairy ears, and a child-like face. He is typically seen wrapped in his sacred treasure Basquias (a legendary spear that takes the form of green, octopus-like thorny tentacles/vines that shroud his body, leaving only his upper chest and face exposed). When fully revealed, he has large, colorful, rainbow-hued butterfly-like wings typical of powerful fairies.

He is the first Fairy King (predecessor to King/Harlequin), who lived over 3,000 years ago but defected to the Demon Clan after a tragic betrayal in the ancient Holy War, becoming the Commandment of Repose (a power that curses those who fight without resting in his presence, though its exact effects are not heavily emphasized in the anime).

Personality-wise, as a Commandment, Gloxinia comes across as playful, carefree, and somewhat childish in demeanor (often taunting others casually), but with a sadistic and cruel edge — he enjoys watching suffering and battles, such as during the Vaizel Fight Festival arc where he and Drole host and observe the tournament. Despite this villainous side, his arc involves flashbacks showing a kinder past self, and he eventually shows growth, regret, and redemption through interactions with King and others, leading to a heroic turn later in the series.

(He's voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi in Japanese, giving him a light, youthful tone that fits his deceptive appearance.)
