About Elaine

Elaine is a supporting character in The Seven Deadly Sins (Nanatsu no Taizai) anime, primarily featured in flashbacks, the Purgatory arc, and later seasons.

She is a fairy and the younger sister of King (Harlequin), the Fairy King. Despite being over 1,000 years old, she has a very petite, childlike appearance with straight neck-length blonde hair, large amber/golden eyes, fair skin, and a slender build. As the Holy Maiden/guardian of the Fountain of Youth in the Fairy King's Forest, she initially wears a simple strapless white dress tied with a butterfly knot at the back, often with loose or detached sleeves.

Personality-wise, Elaine is kind-hearted, caring, forgiving, and gentle, with a strong sense of loyalty—especially toward her loved ones. She spent centuries in solitude protecting the fountain, which made her initially wary and distrustful of humans (due to repeated theft attempts), but she is resilient, selfless, and capable of deep emotional bonds. Her story revolves heavily around her romantic relationship with Ban (the Fox Sin of Greed): they meet when he tries to steal from the fountain, develop mutual feelings after he gives up, and share a tragic fate when she sacrifices herself to save him during an attack on the forest, giving him the fountain's water to grant immortality.

In the anime, she appears as a spirit in the Capital of the Dead, gets temporarily revived (with some altered behavior due to external influence), and plays emotional roles in Ban's and King's arcs, highlighting themes of love, sacrifice, and reunion. She's portrayed as compassionate and supportive toward friends like Elizabeth, while showing protective instincts for her brother and Ban.
