Earl Dervish

Earl Dervish is a minor character in the Pokémon anime, specifically appearing in the Johto region arc (Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver / Johto Journeys).

He is the enthusiastic principal (and teacher) of the Pokémon Academy (also called Earl's Pokémon Academy) in Violet City. In the episode "A Bout with Sprout" (EP130 in the original series), Ash, Misty, and Brock visit his school, where young students are learning about Pokémon. Earl is portrayed as a very energetic and eccentric person who loves dancing and twirling around, even while leading people or teaching. Despite his role as principal, he's extremely cheerful and outgoing, allowing the main characters to help demonstrate some battle concepts to the kids.

He's a one-episode character of the day, adapted from the games where he has similar quirky, dance-loving traits and broken English-style speech (though toned down in the anime).
