Cilan

Cilan (known as Dent in Japanese) is one of Ash Ketchum's traveling companions during the Pokémon: Black & White series (the Unova region arc in the anime).

He's one of the three Gym Leaders of the Striaton City Gym (alongside his triplet brothers Chili and Cress), where he specializes in Grass-type Pokémon — his signature partner is Pansage (which later appears outside its Poké Ball often).

Beyond being a Gym Leader, Cilan is an A-class Pokémon Connoisseur, meaning he's highly skilled at evaluating and analyzing the bond, compatibility, and synergy between Pokémon and their Trainers. He often dramatically declares things like "It's tasting time!" or gives passionate, over-the-top assessments of Pokémon relationships, battles, or even everyday situations.

Personality-wise, he's eccentric, cheerful, enthusiastic, and flamboyant — frequently getting theatrical or poetic about things he enjoys (like cooking, fishing, trains, science, and more — he's a "connoisseur" of many topics). He serves as the group's cook and navigator during their travels with Ash and Iris, and he's generally calm, polite, knowledgeable, and supportive, though his dramatic flair stands out a lot.

He joins Ash's journey after losing to him in a Gym battle, wanting to broaden his experiences as a Connoisseur by seeing more of the world.
