Bugsy

Bugsy is the Gym Leader of Azalea Town in the Johto region, specializing in Bug-type Pokémon. He appears in the anime during Ash's journey in the Johto arc, specifically in the episode "Gettin' the Bugs Out" (and briefly in related scenes).

In the anime version, Bugsy is portrayed as a young boy (often noted for his youthful and somewhat androgynous appearance, with people occasionally mistaking him for a girl due to his looks and longish purple hair). He's highly knowledgeable about Bug Pokémon—frequently described as an expert or "walking Bug Pokémon encyclopedia"—and has great passion for them, believing they have immense potential.

He's polite, kind, and formal when addressing others (at least initially), and he's a skilled battler despite his young age. His Gym resembles a forested area filled with trees and Bug Pokémon, and he often observes them from up in the trees.

His main team in the anime includes Spinarak, Metapod, and especially his powerhouse Scyther (which he uses as his ace with moves like Swords Dance). Ash challenges him for the Hive Badge and wins after a tough battle.
