Captain Stern

Captain Stern is a character who appears in the Pokémon anime during the Hoenn region arc (specifically in the episode "The Spheal of Approval" from Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire / Advanced Generation).

He is the curator and director of the Oceanic Museum in Slateport City, where he works as an oceanographer and marine researcher. Stern is depicted as a tall, middle-aged man with short brown hair, typically dressed in a formal gray suit with a teal collared shirt underneath.

In the anime, he's portrayed as intelligent, dedicated to studying ocean life and artifacts (such as a mysterious volcanic stone he discovers from the deep sea), and brave—he stands up to Team Magma thieves attempting to steal his research materials. He owns a Sealeo that he uses in battle to help protect the museum and his discoveries.
