About Zhu Jin

Zhu Jin is a major antagonist in the anime adaptation of Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku, serving as one of the powerful Tensen-class Sennin and a member of Lord Tensen, the immortal rulers of the mysterious island Kotaku. They are a non-binary/hermaphroditic being capable of switching between a Yang (male) form, which appears more muscular and well-toned, and a Yin (female) form, which is more slender and feminine.

In appearance, Zhu Jin has distinctive orange, flower-petal-shaped hair with long, stigma-like antenna strands, golden eyes, and typically wears elegant traditional attire including a large-collared shirt, beaded necklace, dark skirt-like elements, hakama, and boots—giving them an otherworldly, plant-inspired aesthetic.

Personality-wise, Zhu Jin comes across as unenthusiastic, lazy, and perpetually bored or uninterested, often displaying a blank or apathetic expression with minimal motivation for tasks unless necessary. Despite this laid-back demeanor, they are extremely dangerous, possessing immense Tao-based powers (specializing in certain mystic arts), superhuman strength/speed, rapid regeneration, and the ability to transform into a monstrous Kishikai form resembling a massive hibiscus flower in dire situations.

In the anime (particularly as seen in Season 1 and leading into further arcs), Zhu Jin is portrayed as a formidable, almost casual threat to the human convicts and executioners exploring the island, with their fights highlighting their overwhelming power and indifference toward lesser beings.
