About Tamiya Gantetsusai

Tamiya Gantetsusai (often just called Gantetsusai) is one of the death row convicts in the anime Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku. He's a legendary master swordsman nicknamed the "Blade Dragon" and "Eight Provinces Unparalleled," renowned for his unmatched skill with a blade.

In the anime, he's portrayed as a tall, imposing, middle-aged man with a large build, dark hair tied in a distinctive ponytail split into sections, a prominent mustache and beard (also styled in sections), and a rugged, intense look. He typically wears traditional attire like a yukata and hakama. (Later events lead to him losing a hand and getting a hook replacement, but that's part of his arc.)

Personality-wise, he's boisterous, extremely confident (bordering on arrogant), and thrives on the thrill of battle—he lives for challenging strong opponents and getting that adrenaline rush from combat. He's reckless, quick to charge in, has a massive ego, and is driven by a desire to become a legendary figure whose name lives on forever (even if it means going out in a blaze of glory). He can come across as violent and selfish at first, but he shows loyalty to those he respects (like his monitor Yamada Asaemon Fuchi) and has a straightforward, larger-than-life energy.

He's voiced by Tetsu Inada in Japanese (with a deep, booming delivery that fits his bombastic style) and Phil Parsons in English. Overall, he's one of the more memorable, over-the-top fighters in the series, often providing comic relief through his bravado while still being a serious powerhouse in fights.
