Yamada Asaemon Fuchi

Yamada Asaemon Fuchi is a supporting character in the anime Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku (also known as Jigokuraku). He is the 9th-ranked member of the Yamada Clan, a group of executioners and sword-testers who serve the shogunate.

Fuchi is a young man of short stature (around 148 cm), with blonde hair styled in a distinctive bowl-like cut featuring bangs and a small ahoge (a single strand sticking up). He often wears slim circular glasses and carries books, reflecting his scholarly side. His standard Asaemon attire includes a white robe with a bell on the collar, hakama pants, and sandals.

In the anime, Fuchi is assigned as the monitor/supervisor for the death row convict Tamiya Gantetsusai during the expedition to the mysterious island in search of the Elixir of Life. He stands out for his calm, analytical, and highly curious personality—particularly his fascination with anatomy, medicine, and dissection. He approaches dangerous or grotesque situations with a composed, scientific mindset, often prioritizing knowledge and understanding over immediate fear or emotion.

While not one of the most combat-focused Asaemon, his intelligence, strategic thinking, and medical knowledge make him a valuable member of the group, especially in dealing with the island's bizarre threats and injuries. Voiced by Aoi Ichikawa in Japanese (and Justin Briner in English), he brings a quiet, intellectual contrast to the more intense fighters in the series.
