About Trisha Elric

Trisha Elric is a supporting character in the anime Fullmetal Alchemist (both the 2003 series and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), the mother of Edward and Alphonse Elric.

In the anime, she is depicted as a gentle, loving, and deeply caring mother with long brown hair, soft brown eyes, and a warm, serene appearance. She is often shown wearing simple, modest dresses typical of rural Resembool.

Trisha is kind-hearted, nurturing, and optimistic, always encouraging her sons and fostering their curiosity and kindness. She raised Edward and Alphonse alone after their father, Van Hohenheim, left the family, and she instilled strong moral values in them. Her unconditional love and belief in her children's potential are central to her character.

Her tragic illness and death from a terminal disease (when the boys are very young) serve as the catalyst for the entire story—driving Edward and Alphonse to attempt human transmutation to bring her back, which leads to the series' central tragedy and their quest for redemption.

In both anime versions, she is remembered through flashbacks and memories as a symbol of maternal love, sacrifice, and the human cost of alchemy. She has no active role beyond her early life and death, but her influence on the brothers' motivations and emotional arcs is profound.
