Olivier Mira Armstrong

Olivier Mira Armstrong is a major character in the Fullmetal Alchemist anime, specifically in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (the 2009 adaptation, which is the faithful and most widely regarded version).

She is the older sister of Alex Louis Armstrong and serves as the Major General and commander of Fort Briggs, the northernmost military fortress in Amestris, defending the border against Drachma.

In the anime, Olivier is portrayed as an exceptionally tall, imposing, and strikingly beautiful woman with long blonde hair (often tied back), sharp blue eyes, and a commanding, intimidating presence. She typically wears her military uniform with a fur-lined coat, reflecting the harsh, frozen environment of Briggs.

Personality-wise, she is cold, ruthless, pragmatic, and uncompromising — she values strength, competence, and survival above sentimentality, often showing disdain for weakness, excuses, or those who fail to meet her standards. She rules Briggs with an iron fist, demanding absolute loyalty and excellence from her soldiers, and she has no patience for bureaucracy or politics that hinder military effectiveness. Despite her harsh demeanor, she is fiercely protective of her troops and the people under her command, treating them as a family forged in battle. She has a dry, biting sense of humor and rarely shows vulnerability.

Olivier is one of the strongest, most respected, and feared military figures in Amestris, known for her strategic brilliance, combat prowess, and willingness to make brutal decisions for the greater good. She becomes a crucial ally in the fight against the larger threats in the series, particularly in the later arcs involving the homunculi and the military conspiracy.
