About Riza Hawkeye

Riza Hawkeye is a central supporting character in the Fullmetal Alchemist anime (both the 2003 series and the 2009 Brotherhood adaptation), serving as the loyal adjutant and right-hand woman to Colonel Roy Mustang in the Amestrian military.

In the anime (especially Brotherhood, which is the more commonly referenced version), she's depicted as a calm, disciplined, and highly competent First Lieutenant in the State Military. She has short, neat blonde hair (often with a few strands falling forward), sharp golden-brown eyes, and a slender but strong build. She almost always wears her formal blue military uniform with the Amestrian insignia, exuding an air of professionalism and quiet intensity.

Personality-wise, Riza is stoic, intelligent, and unflinchingly loyal—particularly to Mustang, whom she has known since their academy days. She acts as his moral compass and emotional anchor, keeping his more ambitious or reckless tendencies in check while fully supporting his goals (including his hidden aim to reform the corrupt military). She's an exceptional marksman, renowned for her deadly accuracy with a rifle, and her precision reflects her overall character: focused, reliable, and never wasteful.

Her relationship with Mustang is one of the deepest in the series—built on mutual trust, unspoken understanding, and a shared tragic past involving the Ishval War. She's often the voice of reason in tense situations, willing to make hard choices (including confronting Mustang when needed) to protect both him and the country. Overall, Riza is widely regarded as one of the strongest, most composed, and morally grounded female characters in the entire franchise.
