Erina Nakiri

Erina Nakiri is one of the central characters in Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma.

She is the granddaughter of Senzaemon Nakiri (the head of Tōtsuki Academy) and widely regarded as a prodigy in the culinary world. Erina possesses the extremely rare "God's Tongue" (Shinigami no Shita), an ultra-sensitive palate that can instantly detect the smallest flaws or imbalances in any dish, earning her a legendary reputation even before entering high school.

Personality-wise, she starts off as:

• Extremely arrogant and elitist
• Highly perfectionistic
• Cold and condescending toward most people (especially those she considers beneath her standards)
• Very confident in her superior taste and skill

Over the course of the series, she gradually undergoes significant character development, revealing deeper layers of insecurity, vulnerability, and eventually respect (and later genuine affection) toward certain people, particularly Soma Yukihira.

She serves as both a major rival and an important supporting character throughout the story. Physically, she's typically depicted with long, pale blonde hair, violet eyes, and a very elegant, aristocratic appearance that matches her status as "Tōtsuki's princess."
