Shinra Kusakabe

Shinra Kusakabe is the main protagonist of the anime/manga Fire Force (Enen no Shouboutai). He's a 17-year-old third and later fourth-generation pyrokinetic who serves as a second-class Fire Soldier in Special Fire Force Company 8.

Shinra has a distinctive "nervous grin" (sharp teeth and creepy smile when tense, earning him the nickname "Devil"). His ignition ability lets him generate flames from his feet, nicknamed "Devil's Footprints," allowing him to perform explosive kicks, fly, and move at incredible speeds.

Driven by the traumatic death of his mother and presumed death of his younger brother in a fire 12 years ago (for which he was wrongly blamed), Shinra joins the Fire Force to become a hero, save people from spontaneous human combustion, and uncover the truth about what really happened to his family.

He's brave, determined, hot-headed, justice-oriented, and deeply cares about protecting others despite being feared or mocked for his grin and past. Later in the series, he's revealed to possess the Adolla Burst and plays a central role in the larger mysteries of the world.
