Spy x Family

Spy x Family is a super fun, wholesome action-comedy anime (based on Tatsuya Endo's manga) that blends spy thriller elements with heartwarming family slice-of-life moments.

In a Cold War-style tension between the rival nations of Westalis and Ostania, elite Westalian spy codenamed Twilight (who adopts the alias Loid Forger, a psychiatrist) is given Operation Strix: get close to reclusive Ostanian politician Donovan Desmond to prevent war. The only way in is to enroll a child in the prestigious Eden Academy where Desmond's son attends — which means Loid needs to quickly assemble a convincing "perfect family."

He adopts a young girl named Anya, who turns out to be a runaway esper with mind-reading powers (she's obsessed with spies, peanuts, and cartoons). To complete the family image, he enters a fake marriage with Yor Briar (secretly the deadly assassin known as Thorn Princess), who's terrible at normal domestic life but incredibly strong and kind-hearted.

None of them know each other's secrets at first — except Anya, who reads minds and constantly tries (and hilariously fails) to help with her dad's mission while keeping everything hidden. They later adopt a precognitive dog named Bond too.

The show follows their chaotic attempts to maintain the fake family facade, attend school events, dodge threats, and slowly (without realizing it) become a real, loving family through funny misunderstandings, over-the-top action, and adorable moments — especially Anya being chaotic and cute.

It's lighthearted, hilarious, and surprisingly touching.
