Maria von Messina

Maria von Messina is a supporting character in the anime Wise Man's Grandchild (Kenja no Mago). She is the red-haired second daughter of a countess (from the House of Messina) and a close childhood friend of Sicily von Claude.

In the story, she's a highly talented student at the magic academy, ranking 3rd in the S-Class (the top class) and a member of the Ultimate Magic Research Society. She bears the title "Valkyrie" as an S-rank magician, though she dislikes it because of the implication it carries about remaining unmarried/virgin forever.

Personality-wise, Maria is upfront, vocal, assertive, and energetic (often described as a fiery redhead). She's a huge fangirl of the legendary heroes Merlin and Melinda (Shin’s grandparents), and she frequently teases Sicily about her obvious crush on Shin while trying to play matchmaker or offer support in their budding relationship. She tends to be outgoing and direct, contrasting with more reserved characters around her.
