Zaratras

Zaratras is a key supporting character in the anime The Seven Deadly Sins (Nanatsu no Taizai). He was the Great Holy Knight of the Kingdom of Liones and widely regarded as the strongest Holy Knight in his time, even earning respect from Meliodas (who admitted he might not have been able to beat him back then).

He served as the superior to the Seven Deadly Sins during their days as official Holy Knights working for the kingdom, before they were framed for his murder. Zaratras is the father of Gilthunder (a young Holy Knight who idolized the Sins and was trained partly by Meliodas) and half-brother to Dreyfus.

His personality is kind, refined, and honorable—he trusted and believed in the Seven Deadly Sins (much like King Bartra did) and would gently scold them for recklessness. He possessed a unique ability called Purge, which expels or destroys evil/unnatural souls or spirits.

In the story, Zaratras is assassinated ten years before the main events (framed on the Sins), setting off the central plot. He appears mainly in flashbacks, a brief revival sequence (as a reanimated "Silver" version under demonic influence), and through his legacy's impact on characters like his son and the Sins.

He's remembered as a wise, powerful leader with a spotless soul and commanding presence in battle.
