Bartra Liones

Bartra Liones is the king of the Kingdom of Liones in the anime The Seven Deadly Sins (Nanatsu no Taizai). He is the adoptive father of Elizabeth Liones and the biological father of Margaret and Veronica.

He is depicted as a wise, caring, and peace-loving ruler who deeply values his family, his people, and justice. He possesses a special ability called Vision, which grants him limited precognitive glimpses of the future—often vague but significant enough to guide major decisions, such as foreseeing the need for the Seven Deadly Sins to be assembled as protectors of the kingdom.

In the anime's story, Bartra is overthrown in a coup by corrupt Holy Knights (orchestrated under manipulative influences), leading to him being held captive for much of the early arcs. Despite this, he remains a figure of moral authority: forgiving toward those who were deceived, trusting in the Sins despite their framed criminal status, and prioritizing peace over unnecessary conflict (he even ordered the Holy Knights to disarm in hopes of averting a prophesied Holy War).

He appears as an elderly man with long white hair, a groomed beard, and regal attire like a fur-trimmed cloak. Overall, he's portrayed as a benevolent, insightful leader whose foresight and compassion play key roles in the kingdom's fate.
