Wallace (known as Mikuri in Japanese) is a prominent character in the Pokémon anime, particularly featured in Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl.
He is a highly accomplished Water-type specialist, former Gym Leader of Sootopolis City in the Hoenn region, and previously served as the Champion of the Hoenn League. In the anime, he is primarily portrayed as a renowned Contest Master — a title reflecting his exceptional skill and celebrity status in Pokémon Contests, where he is famous worldwide for his magnificent, artistic appeals and powerful performances with his Pokémon (especially his signature Milotic).
Appearance-wise, he is depicted as a tall, slender, elegant young man with an androgynous look: pale skin, light/teal blue eyes, short teal hair that curls around one side of his face, often topped with a white beret. His outfits emphasize grace and flair, such as flowing or ripple-edged cloaks in coordinating teal and white tones.
Personality-wise, Wallace comes across as calm, cool-tempered, graceful, and somewhat flamboyant. He has a friendly yet celebrity-like demeanor, inspiring admiration from fans and Coordinators alike. He promotes and judges major Contests (like the Wallace Cup he hosts in Sinnoh), and he values beauty, elegance, and artistic expression in both battles and performances.
In later appearances (such as in Pokémon Journeys), his personality leans more flamboyant and narcissistic, but he's consistently tied to Water-types, Contests, and his Hoenn background.
