Lance

Lance is a prominent character in the Pokémon anime, known as the Champion of both the Indigo League (Kanto region) and the Johto League. He specializes in Dragon-type Pokémon and is widely regarded as one of the strongest Trainers in the world.

Appearance: He's depicted as a tall, thin (or athletic) young man with striking carmine/scarlet red spiked hair, pale skin, and brown eyes. His outfit often has a dramatic, medieval-inspired look, featuring a long flowing cape (black on the outside, crimson inside), a navy blue tunic with red-orange accents, a belt, and large black boots.

Personality and role: Lance is honorable, serious, and deeply caring toward his Pokémon (treating them as friends). He's heroic and justice-driven, serving as a member of the Pokémon G-Men (a special detective/investigation unit). He actively fights against criminal organizations like Team Rocket, often working undercover or intervening in major threats (e.g., at the Lake of Rage or during legendary Pokémon incidents). He avoids putting innocents in danger and maintains a cool, respectful demeanor.

He first appears prominently in the Johto series (starting around episodes involving Team Rocket at the Lake of Rage), later returns in arcs like Hoenn (with Groudon and Kyogre), and even competes in high-level tournaments like the Masters Eight in Pokémon Journeys. His signature Pokémon includes a powerful red Gyarados (which he caught as a shiny) alongside Dragonite and other Dragons.
