Clair

Clair (Japanese: Ibuki) is the Gym Leader of Blackthorn City in the Johto region, specializing in Dragon-type Pokémon. She is the cousin of Elite Four member Lance and first appears in the original Pokémon anime series during Ash's Johto journey (episodes like "Beauty is Skin Deep" and "Great Bowls of Fire!").

In the anime, Clair is portrayed as confident, proud, and deeply compassionate toward Dragon-type Pokémon—she treats them with great care and respect, often prioritizing their well-being (such as protecting the Dragon Holy Land). She's calmer and more responsible than her game counterpart, gracefully accepting defeats and looking out for other trainers. She battles Ash for the Rising Badge using Pokémon like Gyarados, Kingdra, and a Dratini that evolves into Dragonair during the fight.

She later returns in the Black & White series, where she mentors Iris and captures a shiny Druddigon, with her Dragonair having evolved into Dragonite. Overall, she's a skilled, caring dragon master who values bonds with her Pokémon above all.
