DJ Mary

DJ Mary (known as Kurumi in Japanese) is a minor character in the Pokémon anime, specifically appearing in the Johto region arc (Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver / Johto Journeys).

She is a cheerful and energetic radio DJ and host at the Goldenrod Radio Tower in Goldenrod City. In her main appearance in the episode "Air Time!" (EP160), she runs a radio show where she interviews guests about their Pokémon and adventures. She interviews Ash Ketchum (who gets nervous on air), gives him advice to relax by imagining it's a Pokémon battle, and handles an impromptu live radio drama segment after Team Rocket causes trouble with the station's tapes. She also briefly mistakes Team Rocket (in disguise) for performers and puts them on air.

She later appears in a couple of episodes tied to Professor Oak's segments, including helping search for him when he's kidnapped ("Oaknapped!"). She's portrayed as friendly, professional, and quick on her feet when improvising during broadcasts.

She's distinct from her game counterpart (who co-hosts Professor Oak's Pokémon Talk more regularly), and her anime role is limited to a handful of appearances focused on the radio station events.
