Hau is a supporting character and rival in the Pokémon Sun & Moon anime series (part of Ash's Alola journey).
He is the grandson of Melemele Island's Kahuna, Hala. In the anime, Hau is portrayed as an extremely cheerful, optimistic, and energetic boy who loves battling for fun and maintains a positive attitude. Unlike more intense or competitive rivals, he doesn't mock or belittle opponents—he's friendly and encouraging, though he can get emotional and tear up when he loses or feels hurt.
He has a big love for malasadas (a sweet Alolan treat) and often shows excitement about Pokémon battles, Z-Moves, and his own growth as a trainer. He participates in the Alola Pokémon League and shares a warm, supportive dynamic with Ash and others.
Appearance-wise: He's a dark-skinned young boy with dark green hair in a short ponytail tied with an orange band, typically wearing casual tropical-style clothes like a black shirt, yellow floral board shorts, and an orange backpack.
Overall, he's one of the more lighthearted and wholesome rivals in the anime, emphasizing enjoyment over cutthroat competition.
