About Brook

Brook (also known as "Soul King" Brook) is the musician and one of the swordsmen of the Straw Hat Pirates in the One Piece anime.

He's an extremely tall, living skeleton (standing at about 266 cm / 8'8½") with a signature large afro, dressed in formal gentlemanly attire including a top hat, suit, and often carrying a cane that doubles as his sword (a shikomizue). His skeletal appearance comes from eating the Revive-Revive Fruit (Yomi Yomi no Mi), which lets him come back to life once after death, but his soul took so long to return to his body that it decayed into bones—except for his afro, which stayed intact.

In the anime, Brook is introduced as an eccentric, polite "gentleman" who speaks formally and courteously (often using "-san" honorifics), even toward enemies. He has a goofy, comedic side: he loves making skeleton-themed puns and his signature laugh ("Yohohoho!"), he's famously perverted (frequently asking to see women's panties), shouts for food impatiently like Luffy, and has bad table manners. Despite this, he's deeply kind, compassionate, upright, and values friendship and simple joys after spending 50 years alone on a ghost ship in the Florian Triangle.

He's a talented musician who plays multiple instruments (especially violin pre-timeskip, guitar post-timeskip), and a skilled, speedy swordsman thanks to his lightweight frame and undead resilience. His Devil Fruit powers also let him separate his soul from his body, freeze things with soul energy, and influence others through music in creative ways.

Overall, Brook brings both comic relief and heartfelt moments to the crew, especially through his tragic yet hopeful backstory and loyalty.
