Tooru Ishikawa

Tooru Ishikawa (often called Toru in the anime) is a supporting character in the 2021 Horimiya anime adaptation. He's a classmate of Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura at Katagiri Senior High School, and one of Miyamura's closest friends at school.

Appearance-wise, Tooru is portrayed as a tall (around 174 cm), handsome, and athletic teenage boy with short, swept purple hair and matching purple eyes. He typically wears the standard school uniform with rolled-up sleeves, giving off a casually cool vibe.

Personality-wise, he starts off with a noticeable crush on Hori, which makes him a bit jealous and temperamental at first — especially toward Miyamura when he sees them getting close. He can come across as somewhat blunt or hot-headed in those early moments. However, after confessing to Hori and getting rejected (which he handles maturely), he shows strong character growth: he becomes genuinely supportive of Hori and Miyamura's relationship, puts aside any resentment, and grows even closer to Miyamura as a loyal friend. Overall, he's kindhearted, considerate, level-headed in most situations, and a reliable guy in the group — often seen as the more grounded "nice guy" type among the friends. Later in the series, he develops a mutual connection with Yuki Yoshikawa.

He's a solid example of a character who starts with typical teenage jealousy/romantic feelings but matures into a really good friend to everyone around him.
