About Izumi Miyamura

Izumi Miyamura is the male protagonist of the Horimiya anime (2021 adaptation). At school, he comes across as a quiet, gloomy, and somewhat anti-social guy—often wearing glasses, keeping his head down, and blending into the background as the stereotypical reserved otaku type who doesn't stand out much.

In reality (and especially outside of school), Miyamura has a completely different side: he's laid-back, kind-hearted, gentle, and surprisingly good-looking, with a slim build, pale skin, deep blue eyes, and a slightly feminine-featured face framed by messy black hair. He hides multiple piercings (nine in total: four on each ear and one on his lip) and several tattoos under long sleeves and his school uniform to maintain his low-key image at school.

His personality is shy and awkward at first, especially around new people, stemming from past experiences like bullying and loneliness in middle school. Once he opens up—particularly after meeting Kyouko Hori—he reveals himself to be caring, loyal, empathetic, and deeply affectionate toward those close to him, often showing a sweet and supportive nature in his relationships. He's not academically strong (struggling in most subjects except P.E.), but he's patient, forgiving, and values genuine connections above all.
