Aza Tōma

Aza Tōma (also romanized as Aza Toma) is a key supporting character in the anime Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku. He is the younger brother of the notorious bandit king Aza Chōbei, serving as his loyal right-hand man and partner in crime.

In the story, after Chōbei's arrest, Tōma infiltrates the Yamada clan (executioners) to reunite with his brother in prison. He informs Chōbei about the shogun's dangerous mission to retrieve the Elixir of Life from the mysterious island of Kotaku (believed to be paradise/Shinsenkyō), with a full pardon as the reward if successful. Tōma is then assigned as Chōbei's official Yamada Asaemon monitor/executioner during the expedition.

Appearance (anime depiction): He has an androgynous, youthful look with long black hair (later cut shorter in the series for symbolic reasons, adding a small braid to mirror his brother's style), dark eyes, and delicate, feminine facial features that contrast sharply with his rough bandit background and brother's rugged appearance. He wears the standard Yamada clan uniform: a white robe with red accents, hakama, and carries a katana.

Personality: Tōma is calm, polite, well-mannered, and composed—almost the opposite of his hot-headed, violent older brother. His defining trait is his deep, unwavering devotion and loyalty to Chōbei, driving many of his actions and decisions throughout the series.
