Goblin Slayer

Goblin Slayer is a dark fantasy anime (adapted from light novels) set in a classic RPG-inspired world where adventurers take on quests through a guild system.

The story centers on a stoic, armored adventurer known only as Goblin Slayer, who is obsessively dedicated to exterminating goblins—using any brutal, pragmatic method necessary. He views them as an existential threat that must be eradicated completely, no matter how "low-level" others consider them.

The series begins with a young, inexperienced Priestess joining her first adventuring party, only for them to encounter far more dangerous goblins than expected, leading to a traumatic disaster. Goblin Slayer rescues her and becomes her reluctant companion as she joins his single-minded goblin-hunting lifestyle.

The tone is grim, violent, and often graphic (especially regarding goblin cruelty and combat), focusing on realistic consequences in a fantasy setting rather than heroic grand adventures. It follows Goblin Slayer and his growing circle of allies as they tackle goblin-related threats, while exploring his trauma-driven motivation.

There are two seasons (2018 by White Fox and 2023 by Liden Films) plus a movie (Goblin's Crown). It's known for its intense, no-nonsense approach to dark fantasy and monster-slaying.
