Isuzu Sohma

Isuzu Sohma, commonly known as Rin (a nickname derived from part of her name meaning "bell"), is one of the cursed members of the Sohma family in the Fruits Basket anime (particularly prominent in the 2019 remake). She represents the Horse of the Chinese Zodiac, transforming into a black horse when hugged by someone of the opposite sex or under extreme stress.

In terms of appearance, Rin is a tall (around 5'5"), slender, and strikingly attractive young woman with long, flowing jet-black hair (initially hip-length, evoking a horse's mane in motion) and sharp dark brown (nearly black) eyes. She often wears gothic-style clothing that emphasizes her edgy, rebellious vibe.

Personality-wise, she's portrayed as cold, fiercely independent, proud, and stubborn—traits tied to her zodiac animal. She despises dependency and resents how many in the Sohma clan submit to Akito's control, often keeping people at arm's length with a sharp tongue. Despite her tough, closed-off exterior and tendency to isolate herself, she deeply cares for those close to her (especially in her key relationships) and shows concern beneath the surface, though her traumatic past makes trust and vulnerability extremely difficult for her.

She's a recurring character who appears later in the story, adding emotional depth through her complex backstory and interactions.
