About Shinobu Kocho

Shinobu Kocho is the Insect Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

She is a petite, slender woman with distinctive butterfly-themed features: black hair tied into a butterfly wing-patterned bun with purple tips, large expressive purple eyes, and a calm, perpetually smiling expression that rarely shows genuine emotion.

Personality-wise, Shinobu appears gentle, polite, and cheerful on the surface, often speaking in a soft, almost teasing tone. However, beneath this demeanor lies a deep, burning hatred for demons due to the tragic loss of her parents and older sister Kanae. Her outward smile frequently masks sharp sarcasm, quiet anger, and a ruthless determination when dealing with demons.

Unlike other Hashira who rely on brute strength or powerful breathing techniques that directly decapitate demons, Shinobu uses Insect Breathing, a derivative of Flower Breathing. Because she lacks the physical strength to cut off demon heads, she instead employs fast, precise swordsmanship and poisons — her signature weapon is a thin, stinger-like Nichirin Blade that injects deadly wisteria-based poisons she personally creates and modifies.

She's widely regarded as one of the most intelligent and scientifically-minded Hashira, often handling medical treatment for injured slayers and experimenting with poison formulations in her spare time.

In short: beautiful, deceptively gentle-looking, poison-specialist Insect Hashira with a butterfly aesthetic and a hidden edge of vengeance.
