Gachiakuta is a dark fantasy shonen action series (manga by Kei Urana, adapted into a TV anime by Studio Bones that aired in 2025, with a second season announced).
In a dystopian world, society is divided by a massive floating structure called the Sphere, where the wealthy elite live in luxury and obsess over cleanliness, while the poor "tribesfolk" (descendants of criminals) are relegated to the surrounding slums and heavily discriminated against. The upper class casually discards trash—and even exiles people convicted of crimes—into a massive abyss known as the Pit (or Abyss), believed to be a bottomless void of death.
The story follows Rudo, a hot-headed teenage orphan from the slums who lives with his kind adoptive father, Regto. Rudo despises the wastefulness of the rich and often scavenges through garbage to salvage useful items, despite warnings. One day, he returns home to find Regto murdered, and due to his low status and circumstances, he's immediately framed for the crime. Without a fair trial, Rudo is sentenced to execution by being dropped into the Pit.
Instead of dying, he survives the fall and lands in the "Ground"—a vast, toxic wasteland below the Sphere, overflowing with the world's trash and inhabited by monstrous "Trash Beasts" made of garbage. There, Rudo discovers new powers tied to trash (called Vital Instruments), joins a group called the Cleaners (who fight the beasts and navigate this junk-filled hellscape), and vows brutal revenge against the true culprit, the corrupt society that wronged him, and the entire system that treats people like garbage.
It's got intense battles, themes of class inequality, revenge, survival, and a gritty punk aesthetic with unique trash-based abilities. Super high-energy and visually wild!
