About Malty S Melromarc

Malty S. Melromarc (also known as Myne Sophia at first, and later renamed "Bitch" by Naofumi) is the former first princess of the kingdom of Melromarc and serves as the primary antagonist in the anime adaptation of The Rising of the Shield Hero.

Appearance: She is depicted as an attractive young woman with wavy, semi-long crimson-red hair tied in a ponytail (with side strands framing her face), striking emerald-green eyes, and cute, youthful features. She's slightly shorter than Naofumi and often presents a charming, innocent look that contrasts sharply with her true nature.

Personality and Role: In the anime, Malty initially appears friendly, encouraging, and flirty when she joins Naofumi Iwatani (the Shield Hero) as his first party member after his summoning. However, she quickly reveals her true self as a deeply manipulative, deceitful, narcissistic, and sadistic person. She betrays Naofumi by stealing his possessions and money, then falsely accuses him of attempting to assault her, framing him in a biased court and turning public opinion against him. This act kickstarts Naofumi's distrustful worldview and sets off much of the story's early conflict.

She later joins the Spear Hero Motoyasu's party (exploiting his gullibility), continues scheming against Naofumi and others, and repeatedly betrays allies for personal gain, showing no genuine remorse. Even when confronted with evidence or consequences—like a truth-enforcing spell—she defaults to lying and manipulation. Her actions highlight themes of prejudice against the Shield Hero, royal corruption, and betrayal in the series.

She's widely regarded as one of the most despised characters in anime due to her unrepentant malice and cunning facade.
