Whitney (known as Akane in Japanese) is the Gym Leader of Goldenrod City in the Johto region, appearing in the Pokémon anime during the Johto Journeys arc (specifically in episodes like "A Goldenrod Opportunity" and "A Dairy Tale Ending").

In the anime version, she's portrayed as a cheerful, energetic, and sweet young woman with a love for cute Pokémon. She has a bubbly and friendly personality, often acting helpful and outgoing—she even shows Ash, Misty, and Brock around the city after meeting them. She's particularly attached to her Pokémon, especially her beloved Clefairy (which she often keeps out) and her powerhouse Miltank.

Despite her cute and somewhat ditzy exterior, she's a skilled battler who specializes in Normal-type Pokémon. Her Miltank is famously tough, using moves like Rollout to overwhelm opponents (it gave Ash a lot of trouble in their first battle). She can be dramatic at times, but she's caring and supportive overall.

She also has family ties, like her uncle who runs a Miltank dairy farm, where a key rematch with Ash takes place. Overall, anime Whitney comes across as fun-loving, competent, and endearingly enthusiastic about Pokémon.
