May

May is a main character in the Pokémon anime during the Advanced Generation series (Hoenn and Battle Frontier arcs). She's a young Pokémon Coordinator (around 10 years old at the start) from Petalburg City, the daughter of Gym Leader Norman and younger sister to Max. She travels as one of Ash Ketchum's companions alongside Brock and her brother.

In the anime, May begins her journey primarily to see the world and try new foods in different towns, with little initial interest in Pokémon or battling—she's even scared of them at first. After her bike is accidentally destroyed by Ash's Pikachu, she joins his group.
