Lysandre

Lysandre is a major character in the Pokémon anime, specifically the main antagonist of the XY and XYZ series (set in the Kalos region) and the Mega Evolution Specials.

He is the charismatic owner of Lysandre Labs, a famous inventor who publicly works to make the world a better place through technology (like the Holo Caster). He appears calm, sophisticated, and benevolent at first, often helping Ash and his friends.

In reality, he is the secret leader of Team Flare, a criminal organization. Disgusted by humanity's greed and ugliness, Lysandre believes the only way to create a truly beautiful and peaceful world is to wipe out most life on the planet, leaving resources for a select few "chosen ones" (including members of Team Flare). He manipulates others, such as the trainer Alain, to collect Mega Evolution energy and capture legendary Pokémon like Zygarde.

Unlike many Pokémon villains, the anime version of Lysandre is portrayed as ruthless, wrathful, and hypocritical—he shows no remorse, willingly harms children (including torturing Ash), and refuses to accept defeat even when it means his own death. His plan involves controlling Zygarde and a giant energy-absorbing rock to destroy everything, leading to an epic final battle in Lumiose City. He ultimately fails and vanishes in an explosion, ending Team Flare's threat.

He's widely considered one of the darkest and most dangerous villains in the entire Pokémon anime.
