Kyouko Hori (often called Hori) is the main female protagonist in the 2021 anime Horimiya.
At school, she comes across as the ideal high school girl: energetic, outgoing, popular, smart, and responsible. She's well-liked, always brightening the mood around her, and excels academically.
However, her home life reveals a different side. With her parents often busy, she handles most of the household chores and takes care of her younger brother Souta, so she tends to rush home after school. At home, she dresses casually (no makeup, hair tied up simply), acts more relaxed and domestic, and shows a more vulnerable, sometimes tsundere-like personality—she can be short-tempered, jealous, or physically expressive (like playful hits) toward those she's close to, especially her love interest Izumi Miyamura.
She's diligent, independent, caring (especially toward family and friends), and values authenticity in relationships once she lets her guard down. In the anime, her dynamic with Miyamura highlights this contrast between her public "perfect" image and her private, more grounded self.
