Shino Kuribayashi

Shino Kuribayashi is a Sergeant First Class in the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) and a key member of Lieutenant Yōji Itami's Third Recon Team in the anime Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakeri (Gate: Thus the JSDF Fought There!).

In the anime adaptation, she's depicted as a cute, petite young woman with a small frame, chestnut brown hair styled with a distinctive side ponytail jutting out, and a curvaceous figure (notably emphasized with a slim waist and large bust). She's voiced by Maaya Uchida in Japanese.

Personality-wise, Shino has a short temper, gets angry easily, and has a hot-blooded, aggressive fighting style. She's an expert in close-quarters combat and hand-to-hand fighting, often charging into battles headfirst—preferring to use her bayonet or engage up close rather than relying solely on ranged fire. She shows sadistic enjoyment in combat at times and doesn't hesitate to take on enemies directly, as seen in scenes like the defense of Italica against bandits.

She initially looks down on Itami for his laid-back otaku tendencies but gains more respect after learning about his elite Ranger and Special Forces background. Overall, she's one of the more action-oriented and fiery female characters in the JSDF cast.
