Piña Co Lada

Piña Co Lada (also romanized as Pina Co Lada) is a key character in the Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakeri anime.

She's a 19-year-old princess of the Empire in the Special Region (the fantasy world connected via the Gate), daughter of Emperor Molt Sol Augustus and one of his concubines. She's third in the line of succession in the anime adaptation (differing slightly from other versions). As the founder and leader of the Rose Order of Knights, she initially views the JSDF as invaders but quickly recognizes the massive technological and military gap after witnessing their power.

In the anime, she's portrayed as idealistic yet inexperienced at first, serious and stern in demeanor, and deeply loyal to her empire's survival. She matures over the course of the series, shifting toward diplomacy and actively working to establish peace with Japan to prevent her nation's destruction. After interacting with Youji Itami, she becomes notably influenced by modern Japanese otaku culture, which softens her personality and adds some lighter, more enthusiastic moments.

Her appearance features striking dark red hair and matching red eyes, often seen in light armor with prominent shoulder guards (and a bit of cleavage exposure) or elegant formal dresses for imperial events.

Overall, she's a pragmatic, duty-driven princess who evolves into one of the main bridges between the two worlds.
