Kakeru Manabe

Kakeru Manabe is a recurring character in the 2019 Fruits Basket anime reboot (appearing mainly in the second and third seasons). He's a second-year student at Kaibara High School and serves as the vice president of the student council under Yuki Sohma's presidency.

Appearance: Kakeru is a young man of average height and build with short, slightly spiked dark brown hair (featuring two distinctive cowlicks on top) and light brown eyes. He often wears the school uniform with a sweater over it and has a piercing in his right ear.

Personality: He's outgoing, laid-back, and cheerful, with a playful and eccentric side—he loves joking around, napping during work, and making bold or baffling statements with a straight face. This energetic and charismatic vibe strongly reminds Yuki of his older brother Ayame (whom Kakeru enthusiastically calls "commander" upon meeting). Despite his lazy tendencies when it comes to council duties, Kakeru is bold, restless, and good at connecting with people, though he has a deeper, more complex backstory involving family pressures that shaped his earlier withdrawn self.

In the anime, he's a fun, supportive presence in the student council scenes, often clashing lightheartedly with the more serious members while helping bring out Yuki's more relaxed side.
